II Workshop on Challenges in Electric and Hybrid-Electric Aviation​

SAE International Torino is pleased to announce the II workshop on “Challenges in Electric and Hybrid-Electric Aviation”. Join us in Naples! The event is hosted by Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II and sponsored by SAE-International, SAE-Napoli, SAE- Torino, CNR-STEMS and MOST. The workshop will set the ground for a dynamic platform where academia and industry stakeholders can contribute with basic and applied research perspectives to address the challenges and opportunities in electric and hybrid-electric aviation.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Authors from academia and industry are invited to submit abstracts of 300 words or less for review by the Scientific Committee. Abstracts can be uploaded via the website on the registration page. Upon submission, a confirmation email will be sent to the corresponding author.

Non-related manuscript:

Authors who are willing to submit a manuscript will have the opportunity to submit it for publication in the SAE Technical paper conference proceedings after the event through the SAE My Tech Zone tool. Link and updates of the workshop will follow on SAE Torino webpage saetorinogroup.org.

This multi-track Conference will focus on CO2 reduction technologies for sustainable transportation systems, both in terms of powertrain efficiency enhancement and in terms of vehicle energy demand reduction. ANFIA – Associazione Nazionale Filiera Industria Automobilistica and SAE International Torino Section are delighted to announce the 6th edition of “CO2 Reduction for Transportation Systems Conference – The road to decarbonization” which will take place on June 9-10, 2026 in Turin.
The event will focus on CO2 reduction technologies for sustainable transportation systems and is intended for all stakeholders, including vehicle manufacturers, suppliers of components and systems, public entities, decision makers, engineers and researchers. This event will provide excellent networking opportunities as well as a platform for information exchange on an International level. During the recent SAE WCX 2025 event in Detroit, representatives of the Italian SAE Sections, led by our President, Federico Millo, had the pleasure of meeting with SAE International President Robert (Bob) Ireland and CEO Jacqueline El-Sayed on April 9.

In this fruitful meeting, the Torino and Napoli Sections had the opportunity to present a summary of their 2024 activities and share plans for 2025, highlighting the increasing involvement of students and young professionals in mobility engineering.

A particularly meaningful moment was the presentation of the Best Student Paper Awards, personally handed over by Bob Ireland and Jacqueline El-Sayed to the following winners:

Hydrogen for Sustainable Mobility Forum

SAE Torino Section and Convergent Science are delighted to announce the second edition of the Hydrogen for Sustainable Mobility Forum, taking place at the Energy Center of Politecnico di Torino on March 11-12, 2025.

This two-day workshop will focus on the potential of green hydrogen as a fuel for sustainable transportation systems. Technical presentations and a business-focused keynote will offer a comprehensive overview of innovative, state-of-the-art hydrogen technologies. Attendees will learn about the research activities underway in academia and industry, both in the Turin area and around the globe, to develop a new generation of hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engines and other hydrogen devices.

This workshop presents a valuable opportunity to connect and exchange ideas with an international cohort of attendees. We invite all stakeholders, including OEMs, tier 1 suppliers, public entities, decision makers, engineers, and researchers from industry and academia, to join us for this event.

SAE International Torino is pleased to announce the upcoming workshop on “Challenges in Electric and Hybrid-Electric Aviation”. The event will be held at the Energy Center, Politecnico di Torino (Turin, Italy) under the patronage of the Centre for Sustainable Mobility (MOST) and Clean Aviation.

The workshop will set the ground for a dynamic platform where academia and industry stakeholders can contribute with basic and applied research perspectives to address the challenges and opportunities in electric and hybrid-electric aviation. By fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration, we envision the following outcomes: knowledge exchange, identifying common goals, policy and regulations, network for collaborative projects.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

June 11 | CONVERGE Applications Workshop: Solutions for Low-Carbon Transportation

The CONVERGE Applications Workshop is a free one-day event focused on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of low-carbon transportation technologies, including electric motors, batteries, hydrogen, and other alternative fuels. Outstanding technical experts will showcase the results of their latest simulation studies and highlight the advances they are making in developing efficient, low-emissions propulsion systems. Furthermore, Convergent Science engineers will demonstrate the benefits of CONVERGE for addressing challenging engineering problems such as battery thermal runaway, electric motor cooling, and alternative fuel combustion.
